Harness Build: 6-Position IDC Receptacle for Discrete Wire
The TE Connectivity CT 6-173977-6 is a 6-position receptacle that terminates 26-28 AWG discrete wire via IDC — no crimp tool needed on the wire side, just a simple press. Tin-plated female sockets are rated for moderate-cycle, non-corrosive environments; if the harness sees frequent mating or lives in a humid cabinet, consider the gold-plated variant in the same CT series.
Termination & Wire Prep
IDC termination means the wire insulation is pierced by the contact tines as the cover is pressed down. For 26-28 AWG discrete wire, strip length is zero — the wire sits in the slot uncut. Confirm the wire OD fits the IDC slot; stranded wire fills the slot better than solid for vibration resistance.
