This socket accepts 24-28 AWG stranded wire — the range covers the typical signal and control wiring in D-sub harnesses. The crimp termination uses the standard HDP-20 die set; the phosphor bronze body gives consistent crimp retention across the wire range without work-hardening during the crimp cycle.
The gold also suppresses oxide formation at the interface, which matters for low-level signal circuits where millivolt-level drops would be lost in a tin-oxide film.
