Right-Angle DB-9 with Board Lock and Grounding
The 9 positions match the DE-9 (DB-9) shell layout, making this the plug half for a standard 9-pin D-Sub interface. The contacts are brass with gold plating, rated 6 A per circuit at 125 V.
Mounting is through-hole, right-angle — the solder tails pass through the PCB and are soldered on the opposite side. The flange uses 4-40 threaded inserts for mating with the receptacle's jackscrews. Without them, the connector can shift during wave solder and the pins may not align with the holes. For a right-angle D-Sub, the board lock also resists the lever force from the cable strain during unmating.
The grounding indents on the shell are a standard feature on AMPLIMITE HD-20 connectors — they engage with the mating receptacle's dimples to create a continuous shield path. The gold-plated contacts accept the standard AMPLIMITE HD-20 crimp terminals if you are building a cable assembly, but this specific variant is a solder-terminated plug — the pins are soldered directly to the PCB or to a wire. For a field-replaceable cable end, use the crimp-style plug variant with the same 9-position shell layout.
