Board-to-Board Mezzanine Connector for Dense Stacking
The mated stacking height range of 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, or 8mm gives the board designer flexibility to set the gap between parallel PCBs — the same receptacle works across four different header heights, so a single BOM line covers multiple card spacing configurations. This plating grade supports repeated mating and unmating in applications where boards are swapped during test, calibration, or field service without the contact fretting that tin-plated connectors would see.
SMT Termination and Board-Level Assembly
Surface-mount termination means the 6123000-1 feeds through a standard reflow line — no wave solder or hand-solder step. Tube packaging is standard; if your line runs tape-and-reel, check the order code suffix for the reel option — tube feeds fine for low-to-medium volume but slows a high-speed pick-and-place line that expects continuous reel feed.
Mating and Stack Height Selection
For a 5mm mated stack, use the header with a 1.25mm pin height above the header body; for 8mm, the taller pin version. The shroud on the receptacle and the header's alignment posts take the shear load during mating, so the signal contacts don't absorb board misalignment. The dual-row layout means the connector is polarized by the shroud geometry — it cannot be mated reversed.
Compliance and Regulatory Status
The 6123000-1 is ROHS3 Compliant, covering the full RoHS exemption list for lead-free assembly. No conflict minerals or restricted substances in the contact plating or housing material.
