RJ45 Jack for Cat5 Ethernet – 8P8C, Right-Angle SMT, Shielded
The TE Connectivity 6339191-5 is a shielded modular jack with 8 positions and 8 contacts (8P8C), wired for RJ45 Ethernet. It terminates via surface-mount solder tails and exits the board at a 90° angle, which keeps the cable run parallel to the PCB – a common layout for edge-mounted network ports on switches, routers, and industrial controllers. Rated for Cat5, this jack supports signaling up to 100 MHz, covering 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T Ethernet without the tighter crosstalk margins of Cat6.
Board Layout and Assembly Fit
This is a single-port, single-row, right-angle SMT jack. The 90° orientation means the port opening faces the board edge, so the footprint must sit close to the PCB outline to clear the cable bend radius. The green LED on the front face provides link/activity indication – a standard requirement for managed Ethernet ports. The LED is wired to two of the shield pins, so the board layout needs a series resistor and a GPIO or PHY output to drive it. The Tab Direction is Up, meaning the locking tab on the mating plug faces away from the PCB when the jack is mounted on the top side.
