6368011-1 — Shielded Cat5 RJ45 Jack with Dual Green LEDs
It carries a Cat5 rating, which means it is specified for 100 MHz baseband operation — suitable for 100BASE-TX and similar Fast Ethernet links, but not certified for the 250 MHz bandwidth Cat5e or 500 MHz Cat6 require. The dual green LEDs (Green - Green) provide link and activity indication on the connector face, common in network interface cards and panel-mount jacks. The connector is fully shielded with an EMI finger that contacts the chassis panel, bleeding common-mode noise before it reaches the PHY. The housing uses a PBT/polyester blend with a board guide feature to align the connector during hand or wave-solder assembly.
Board Layout and Footprint Notes
The tab direction is up and down — the latch engages on both the top and bottom of the plug, which is standard for keyed RJ45 plugs. The 2-row, 8-contact layout follows the standard T568A/T568B pinout for 8p8c. The shield and EMI finger connect to the PCB ground plane through dedicated through-hole pins — ensure the ground plane has a low-impedance path to chassis to maximise the shielding effectiveness.
