28-Position Hybrid Power/Signal Receptacle
The TE Connectivity 6450140-5 is a 28-position MULTI-BEAM XL receptacle that combines 24 signal contacts and 4 blade-type power contacts in a single 4-row housing. The 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch keeps the board footprint on a standard grid, while the 30.0µin (0.76µm) gold plating on the mating surfaces supports repeated connection cycles in environments where tin would fret.
Contact Layout and Duty Split
The 24 signal contacts handle logic-level lines and low-current control circuits; the 4 power blade sockets carry the main DC rail or high-current return path. This hybrid layout means one connector replaces two separate headers on the board — the signal pins route through the outer rows, the power blades through the centre, keeping the current return path short and the loop inductance low. All 28 positions are loaded from the factory; no optional stuffing.
Board Retention and Assembly
The guide pins are keyed to the mating half — if the header is misaligned, the pins take the impact, not the signal contacts.
