Stamped Pin Contact for Multimate III+ — 16-18 AWG, Gold Plated
Crimp Termination and Wire Prep
This contact accepts 16-18 AWG stranded wire. The stamped-and-formed body uses a standard open-barrel crimp — the wire insulation is captured in the rear wings, the conductor in the front. No special tooling beyond the standard Multimate III+ crimp head (e.g., TE 1490 series or equivalent). The gold plating extends through the crimp zone, so the termination stays corrosion-resistant even in humid cabinet environments.
Where It Fits — Multimate III+ Housings
The 66098-6 mates into any Multimate III+ receptacle housing that accepts a size-16 stamped pin — common in the CPC (Circular Plastic Connector) and G-series rectangular families. The stamped contact is the cost-effective workhorse for high-volume harness builds; the machined version (same series, different base number) trades up in current capacity and cycle life, but the stamped 66098-6 covers the bulk of signal and moderate-power positions in the connector.
