What this contact is and where it fits
The TE Connectivity 66358-9 is a stamped socket contact from the Multimate III+ series. It is the female terminal half — mates with the corresponding Multimate III+ pin contact inside a compatible housing cavity. Stamped construction keeps the per-unit cost down for volume harness builds while the gold finish on the mating surface handles moderate reconnect duty and resists corrosion in industrial atmospheres.
Wire range and termination
Accepts 14-18 AWG stranded wire with a standard crimp termination. The brass body is formed to grip the conductor and insulation simultaneously — the crimp die selection must match the wire gauge to achieve the specified pull-force. Gold plating at 15.0µin (0.38µm) covers the contact beam; the crimp barrel is unplated brass.
