Contact Identity and Series Fit
It is designed as a loose-piece contact for use in the corresponding Multimate III+ connector housings, where it is inserted and retained by the housing's own locking system.
Termination: Wire Wrap, Not Crimp or Solder
This contact terminates via wire wrap — a gas-tight, solderless connection where the stripped wire is wrapped around a square post under tension. The 66460-9's wire wrap termination tail is designed for this process, meaning the assembly tooling is a wire-wrap gun, not a crimp press or soldering iron. This termination method is common in high-reliability backplane and telecom applications where field rework and connection integrity are critical.
Plating Grade and Duty
This is a heavy gold plating — well above the 15 µin flash typically used for low-cycle consumer connectors.
