This contact accepts 20-24 AWG stranded wire. Use the TE-certified hand tool or a pneumatic applicator for the HDP-20 series to get consistent crimp height and strip length. The gold flash finish is thin — it handles the mating cycles typical of a D-sub in a panel-mount or cable assembly, but not the high-cycle duty of a frequently mated I/O connector.
