Four-Circuit Barrier Block for Panel Wiring
The TE Connectivity Buchanan 6DBL-04-006 is a 4-circuit barrier strip from the #6 series, built for field-wireable power distribution inside industrial control panels and junction boxes. It uses the 0.375" (9.53mm) pitch that gives enough clearance between terminals for the 300V rating without crowding the wiring trough. The tri-barrier (3 Wall) construction separates each circuit with a full wall on three sides, reducing the chance of a wire strand bridging to the adjacent terminal during termination. Rated 25A per circuit at 300V, this block handles motor starter feeds, control transformer secondaries, and branch circuit distribution where a single-point disconnect is needed. The 12-22 AWG wire range covers both the power conductors and the smaller control wiring that often taps off the same terminal. Top termination is screws with a captive plate — the plate stays captured in the screw thread, so it does not drop out when the screw is fully backed off. Bottom termination uses PC pins that solder into the PCB through holes, giving a permanent board connection while the field wiring side remains serviceable.
Each of the 4 wire entries accepts solid or stranded copper from 12 AWG down to 22 AWG. Tighten to the torque spec in the product drawing; over-torquing strips the threads in the thermoplastic, and under-torquing lets the wire pull out under vibration. The PC pin bottom termination is a straight through-hole pin on 0.375" centers. The board footprint needs four plated holes on that pitch, with the pin diameter matching the hole size called out in the TE drawing. The pins are tin-plated for solderability; the solder joint is the mechanical anchor, so the through-hole fillet must be full on both sides for the 25A rating to hold under thermal cycling.
Regulatory and Material Compliance
The insulation is a thermoplastic rated UL94 V-0 — the highest horizontal burn rating for a flame-retardant housing. ROHS3 compliant per, which covers the ten restricted substances including the four phthalates added in the 2015 amendment. No lead in the solder finish on the PC pins; the zinc chromate on the screws is hex-chrome-free under the same directive. Operating temperature is rated to 105°C — the continuous-use ceiling for the thermoplastic housing. In a sealed enclosure with multiple blocks ganged together, the internal ambient can rise above 25°C, so the derate applies.
