This is the female half of the crimp pair — it mates with a pin contact inside the HDP-20 housing, and the crimp termination lets you build and service harnesses without solder. The phosphor bronze base material gives the stamped beam its spring memory.
Wire gauge and crimp tooling
The contact accepts 20-24 AWG stranded wire — the range that covers most signal and low-power circuits inside a D-sub shell. For the crimp, TE recommends the CERTI-CRIMP II hand tool or a pneumatic press with the appropriate HDP-20 die set; the crimp barrel is the standard HDP-20 geometry, so any tooling that supports that series works here. Bulk packaging means the contacts are loose in a bag — suited for manual or low-volume assembly, not tape-and-reel for an auto-insertion machine.
