34-Position DIP Header for IDC Ribbon Cable
The TE Connectivity AMP-Latch 746610-8 is a 34-position DIP header designed for mass-termination IDC ribbon cable. All 34 positions are loaded, and the black housing includes a feed-through feature that allows daisy-chaining or pass-through wiring in the harness. That thickness buys extended mating cycle life in applications where the header is repeatedly disconnected and reconnected during test, burn-in, or field service. The trade-off is RoHS non-compliance (the lead content in the finish), which matters for BOMs that require lead-free assembly.
The IDC termination accepts 26-28 AWG stranded wire and 26-30 AWG solid wire. That range covers the standard ribbon cable gauges used in 0.050" pitch flat cable — 28 AWG stranded is the most common, but the solid-wire allowance is useful for prototyping with discrete wires or for cable assemblies that mix solid and stranded conductors. The through-hole mounting gives a solder-joint anchor at the board, which handles the mechanical strain of the ribbon cable better than a surface-mount part would in a high-vibration environment.
