Grounding Indents and Shell Finish
The steel shell carries grounding indents — raised dimples on the mating face that contact the receptacle shell before the signal pins seat. This establishes shield continuity first, which reduces radiated emissions and protects low-level signals during hot-mate or in high-EMI environments. The tin-plated steel shell also provides a robust ground path when the connector is panel-mounted via the 4-40 threaded inserts.
The termination is through-hole solder, so the contacts are soldered directly into the PCB. The 4-40 threaded inserts in the housing accept jackscrews for secure panel mounting. No crimp tool needed; this is a solder-to-board part.
