Shielded Backshell for 50-Position D-Sub Connectors
The TE Connectivity 749193-1 is a two-piece shielded backshell from the AMPLIMITE.050 III series, designed to terminate shielded round cable to a 50-position D-sub connector. The zinc die-cast shell carries a nickel over copper plating, providing a continuous EMI/RFI barrier from the cable braid through to the connector shell. It accepts shell size D connectors, which covers both standard-density 50-position and high-density 78-position D-subs that share the same shell envelope. A spring lock secures the two backshell halves together without separate screws, and the included strain relief clamps the cable jacket to prevent tension from reaching the solder or crimp terminations inside the D-sub.
Compatibility and Installation
This backshell mates with any standard 50-position D-sub connector and also fits HD-78 connectors that use shell size D. The two-piece design installs after the cable is terminated. The nickel over copper plating on the zinc shell ensures good conductivity between the backshell and the D-sub connector's metal shell, completing the shield path. The silver color matches standard D-sub hardware finishes.
