Tin Finish — When It Works
Tin contact finish is the economical choice, but it governs the duty cycle. Tin-on-tin interfaces develop higher contact resistance after repeated mating due to fretting oxidation, so this socket is best specified for connections that mate once or a few times in the field — harness-to-board headers in consumer appliances, for instance — rather than frequent disconnect-reconnect cycles in test equipment or portable gear.
