3-position 5.08 mm pitch plug for field wiring
The 796635-3 is a 3-position plug from TE's Buchanan series, using a 0.200" (5.08mm) pitch that gives each circuit room to carry 15 A at 300 V without crowding the wire entry. It terminates with a screw - rising cage clamp — a field-friendly method that accepts 12-30 AWG (0.05-3mm²) solid or stranded wire with a strip length of 6-7.5mm. The plug is free hanging (in-line), so it mates with a PCB header or another receptacle without needing board-mount hardware.
Torque, wire entry, and retention
The screw torque is specified at 0.79 Nm (7.0 Lb-In) — overtightening can strip the PA66 housing; under-tightening risks loose connections under vibration. Wire entry is 180° straight-in, and retention latches on the non-wire side keep the plug locked to the mating header.
RoHS3 compliant and rated for -40°C to 110°C, with a UL94 V-0 polyamide housing.
