What This 8-Position Buchanan Block Is
The TE Connectivity Buchanan 796689-8 is an 8-position, single-level PCB terminal block on a 0.197" (5.00mm) pitch. It uses a rising cage clamp — turning the M3 screw pulls a brass clamp plate up against the conductor, not sideways, so the wire is trapped between the clamp and the current bar without damaging strands.
Wire Range and Termination — 12 to 30 AWG, One Torque Setting
Accepts 12-30 AWG — solid, stranded, or ferruled. The 0.79 Nm (7.0 Lb-In) torque spec is the same for every wire size, so a calibrated driver set to that value gives consistent clamping force across the entire strip. The brass clamp and current bar are tin-plated; the M3 screw is brass with nickel plating. The housing is PA66 (Nylon 6/6).
Interlocking Side Feature for Ganging
The interlocking (side) feature lets you snap multiple 8-position blocks together into a longer strip without losing alignment. The pitch stays continuous across the gang.
Active lifecycle per the manufacturer record. No NRND or end-of-life notice. This part is RoHS compliant.
