Product details

6.35 mm Pitch, 30 A Power Block for PCB Mount

The rising cage clamp mechanism, tightened with an M3 screw to 0.79 Nm (7.0 Lb-In), grips the conductor across its full cross-section. The clamp and screw are brass with nickel plating. An interlocking side feature lets you gang multiple 796740-2 blocks side-by-side into a multi-position assembly. No separate jumper bar is needed.

Active Production — No Cross-Reference Hunt Needed

There is no end-of-life notice, no last-time-buy date to track, and no official successor to cross-reference. This part is still in regular production through TE's Buchanan series. If you're filling a BOM line for a panel that's been running the same terminal block for years, this is the same part — no form-fit-function change to qualify.

Wire Termination and Torque Specs

The screw clamp accepts 10-24 AWG wire. The M3 screw torque spec is 0.79 Nm (7.0 Lb-In) — that's a firm turn with a standard screwdriver, not a power-tool setting. Over-torquing the M3 can strip the brass threads or crack the PA66 housing; under-torquing leaves the cage loose and the wire can pull out under vibration. The rising cage clamp lifts vertically, so the wire enters straight and the clamp presses down evenly — no side-load that could nick the strands.

Frequently asked questions

Does the 796740-2 have interlocking sides?

Yes, the 796740-2 includes an interlocking side feature that lets you mechanically gang multiple blocks together without a separate jumper bar.
