Power Pin Contact for Multimate II Housings
It accepts 16-18 AWG wire and terminates via a standard crimp tool, making it field-serviceable without soldering. The contact body is copper alloy with a silver finish measuring 200.0µin (5.08µm) thick — a heavy plating grade chosen for sustained power cycling and corrosion resistance in industrial environments.
Rated for 16-18 AWG stranded wire, the 796964-1 uses a closed-barrel crimp that wraps fully around the conductor. The crimp termination eliminates the thermal cycle risk of solder joints in high-vibration harnesses. Match the crimp die to the wire gauge — the barrel dimensions are sized for the full 16-18 AWG range, and the contact seats into any standard Multimate II cavity.
Plating and Duty Cycle
The 200.0µin (5.08µm) silver plating is the defining feature for power applications. Silver provides lower contact resistance than tin under high current and maintains stable performance through thermal cycling. The thickness — well above a flash coating — supports repeated mating and unmating in panel or cabinet environments where the contact sees periodic disconnect for maintenance.
