Press-Fit Pin Socket for 0.020" to 0.030" Pins
The 8134-HC-6P3 is a press-fit pin receptacle from TE's HOLTITE series. It accepts mating pin diameters from 0.020" to 0.030" (0.51mm to 0.76mm) — a tight window that covers common 0.025" square and round pins used in board-to-board and wire-to-board interconnects. Termination is press-fit, no solder needed. The socket presses into a plated through-hole with a mounting hole diameter of 0.063" (1.60mm) and requires a board thickness of 0.030" (0.76mm). The press-fit barrel holds the socket in place without reflow — useful for high-vibration assemblies where solder joints might crack. Contact material is beryllium copper with a tin-lead finish. BeCu gives good spring properties and cycle life — the socket can handle repeated pin insertions without losing grip. The tin-lead finish means this part is RoHS non-compliant; if your BOM requires lead-free, look at the tin-plated variants in the HOLTITE family.
Physical Fit and Board Clearance
Overall length is 0.140" (3.56mm) from the top of the socket to the board surface. The flange diameter is 0.063" (1.60mm) — same as the mounting hole, so the socket sits flush. The pin hole diameter is 0.038" (0.97mm), which guides the mating pin into the contact beam. The socket won't degrade in thermal cycling between cold starts and hot soak.
RoHS non-compliant due to the tin-lead contact finish. This is a legacy-compatible part for applications that still allow lead-bearing finishes — typically military, aerospace, or high-reliability industrial where tin-lead is specified for its whisker resistance and solderability.
