Right-angle FFC connector for tight board-edge routing
The 84533-5 is a 5-position FFC connector from TE Connectivity's 84533 series, using a 0.049" (1.25mm) pitch and a right-angle through-hole mounting orientation. Contacts are top-side, tin-plated phosphor bronze, rated 1A per contact at 50V. Tin plating suits low-cycle or fixed installations — expect fewer than 50 mating cycles before contact wear becomes noticeable. The 0.30mm FFC thickness is specified; tapered cable end aids insertion into the connector body.
Board footprint and termination details
The housing is glass-filled PBT (UL94 V-0 rated), stable through reflow and wave profiles typical of signal-level FFC connectors. Height above board is 0.189" (4.80mm) — this is the clearance needed under the connector body for the FFC bend radius. In a board stack with a second board above, budget at least 5mm of clearance to avoid pinching the cable.
