0.438" Pitch, 30 A Barrier Block for Panel Power Distribution
The 8STV-03-006 is a 3-circuit barrier strip from the Buchanan #8 series, built for panel-mount power termination. It carries a 30 A per circuit rating at 600 V — the current density here is for the main power feed or a motor branch circuit, not a signal line. The 0.438" (11.12 mm) pitch gives enough creepage to hold the 600 V rating across the three walls of the barrier without crowding the terminal wells. Wire acceptance runs 10-18 AWG, so it handles the heavy stuff — 10 AWG for a 30 A circuit is right at the ampacity limit of THHN in open air.
Termination and Mounting — Screws and Turrets
Bottom termination is a solder turret, which means this block is meant to be soldered into a PCB or wired to a bus bar underneath. The flange lets you bolt it to a chassis or panel for mechanical support — the turrets take the electrical load, the flange takes the strain. Terminal screws are steel with a zinc finish, which gives enough corrosion resistance for a dry indoor panel but isn't rated for washdown. The 3-wall barrier isolates each circuit from its neighbour, so a stripped wire can't arc across to the next terminal.
