16-Circuit Barrier Block at 0.375" Pitch — 25 A Power Distribution
The TE Connectivity 9-1437653-4 is a 16-circuit barrier strip from the #6 Buchanan series, a long-running family of panel-mount and through-hole terminal blocks. The defining fit parameter is the 0.375" (9.53 mm) pitch between circuits — wide enough to handle 12 AWG wire comfortably while keeping the overall strip length manageable for a 16-position block. Each circuit is rated 25 A at 300 V, putting this squarely in the power distribution class: it handles branch circuits, motor control feeds, and panel wiring, not signal-level connections. The three-wall (tri) barrier design physically separates each terminal position with a full-height wall on both sides and the back, reducing the chance of an accidental short between adjacent circuits during wiring or vibration.
Termination and Wire Fit
Top termination is via screw clamps — the wire is captured under a steel or stainless steel screw head, torqued down against the conductor. This is the standard field-wiring interface for barrier blocks: no crimp tool needed, just a screwdriver. The bottom termination uses PC pins that solder into a through-hole PCB, anchoring the block mechanically and electrically. The wire range accepted is 12-22 AWG, covering the most common panel and machine wiring sizes. Single-row layout with 16 wire entries, one per circuit.
