Sealing, Temperature Range, and Construction
The shell is nickel-plated brass with a polyamide insert; the backshell is glass-filled PBT, giving the assembly structural stiffness at the cable exit.
This is the female plug half — it mates with any M12 A-coded male receptacle (panel-mount or cordset) that shares the 3-position pinout and threaded locking interface. Termination is screw-clamp inside the housing; strip the conductors, insert into the numbered positions, and tighten the captive screws. The backshell and coupling nut are factory-assembled, so the cable-entry sequence is: feed the cable through the nut, strip and terminate, then tighten the nut to clamp the cable jacket.
