The weatherproof rating and bulkhead front-side nut mounting make this connector suited for outdoor antenna feeds, radio enclosures, and other installations where the connector passes through a panel and sees rain or condensation.

This connector is designed for RG-178 and RG-178A cable families — the centre conductor and dielectric diameter of those cables match the contact and ferrule dimensions in the kit. The ferrule compresses the braid against the rear body for a consistent 50 Ohm transition through the junction.
