The Amphenol RF 132357-11 is an SMA receptacle (female socket) designed for board edge, end launch mounting — the signal pin aligns directly with a microstrip or coplanar waveguide trace at the PCB edge, keeping the 50 Ohm impedance path clean through the transition. Rated to 18 GHz with a PTFE dielectric, this connector is built for RF test points, microwave modules, and compact radio front-ends where a traditional right-angle or bulkhead SMA would add an unnecessary stub.
End Launch Footprint — What It Changes on the Board
Unlike a right-angle SMA that routes the signal through a 90° bend inside the connector, the end launch preserves the 50 Ohm reference plane with minimal discontinuity — important when the 18 GHz upper limit is in play. The threaded fastening type (M4 x 0.7 thread, standard SMA interface) mates with any SMA male plug. Because the connector is not panel-mounted, the mechanical retention relies on the solder joints and the mating nut torque — the board edge must be reinforced if the cable is frequently disconnected under tension.
