75 Ohm F-Type Plug for CATV and Satellite Signal Paths
The 531-40172: It mates with any standard F-type female jack — the kind found on wall plates, cable modems, satellite receivers, and head-end equipment. Rated to 3 GHz, this plug covers the full downstream and upstream cable TV spectrum and most security camera video signals. The PTFE dielectric maintains a stable 75 Ohm characteristic impedance across the band.
Cable Termination and Field Installation
This is a free-hanging, cap-style plug — it terminates the end of a coaxial cable, not a panel or PCB. The cap body accepts the prepared cable end (strip the jacket, fold back the braid, trim the dielectric, and expose the centre conductor), then the plug is crimped or compression-fitted onto the cable. The tin-plated centre pin contacts the cable's centre conductor; the zinc body clamps the braid for ground continuity. No soldering required — a standard F-type crimp tool or compression tool does the job. The nickel body finish resists corrosion in indoor or protected outdoor environments (cable junction boxes, equipment rooms, behind TV panels). Not rated for direct burial, submersion, or continuous outdoor exposure without additional weatherproofing — for those applications, look for an F connector with an O-ring seal or gel-filled boot.
