Plating and Material Choices for the Build
The mating contacts are phosphor bronze with a gold GXT finish (30.0 µ" / 0.76 µm), while the solder tails receive a thick tin finish (100.0 µ" / 2.54 µm). This dual-plating strategy is standard for BERGSTIK headers: the gold side handles repeated mating cycles, and the tin side ensures reliable solder-joint wetting during wave or hand-soldering.
