Contact Interface and Mating Cycle Life
Phosphor bronze contact material provides a good balance of conductivity and spring retention. The circular male pin shape mates with standard IDC socket contacts.
Mechanical Retention and Keying
A keying slot prevents mis-mating with the wrong receptacle — critical when multiple similar headers are on the same board. Mounting flanges on the header body add mechanical retention to the board, taking shear load off the solder joints from cable strain or vibration.
