Board-to-Board Header for Dense Signal Routing
The Amphenol 68405-140HLF is the 40-position member of the BERGSTIK® II series, an unshrouded male pin header for board-to-board interconnect. The 0.100" (2.54 mm) pitch on two rows matches standard DIP spacing, so the board footprint is predictable and routing-dense — no special keep-out zones for the signal traces between pads. With all 40 positions loaded, this is a full-population header; the circuit count on the BOM must match exactly. Rated 5 A per contact at 110 V, the current capacity is signal-level — suited for logic, data, and low-power I/O, not a bus or main power rail. The 30.0 µ" gold or GXT™ plating on the mating surface gives the contact interface corrosion resistance and supports repeated mating cycles in environments where the connector sees field service or periodic reconnection. The right-angle through-hole termination places the pin row parallel to the PCB, which suits board-edge applications or space-constrained enclosures where the mating half routes parallel to the board. The unshrouded design means the pins are exposed — the mating receptacle provides the polarization and keying, so the header itself has no mis-mate protection beyond the pin pattern. The black UL94 V-0 housing is standard for equipment inside an enclosure that requires a flammability rating.
Positioning in the BERGSTIK® II Family
Within the BERGSTIK® II series, the 68405-140HLF is the 40-position variant at 0.100" pitch and 5 A rating.
