The 5 A figure is per-contact at ambient — if the board runs warm or the connector sits in a confined enclosure, derate per the standard pin-temperature-rise curves for 0.100" headers. Tin-plated siblings in the same series would wear through faster under the same cycle count. The right-angle through-hole termination has a 0.095" (2.41 mm) post length.
For the board layout engineer: the 0.100" (2.54 mm) pitch and 0.100" (2.54 mm) row spacing define a standard 0.100" × 0.100" grid. The footprint is a 2 × 28 array of 0.025" square pins, which matches the drill pattern and copper pad layout used by virtually every 0.100" dual-row header on the market.
