The FCI 68405-162HLF is a 62-position, dual-row unshrouded header from the BERGSTIK® II series — a standard 0.100-inch (2.54 mm) pitch board-to-board interconnect. It uses square male pins, gold-plated 30.0 µinch over phosphor bronze, and mounts through-hole at a right angle to the PCB. The unshrouded design keeps the pins exposed for mating with a receptacle or IDC socket; the 0.190-inch insulation height sits below the pin field.
The 0.100-inch pitch matches the legacy DIP grid — the same footprint as a standard IC socket, so it drops onto a 2.54 mm-spaced board layout without a custom pad pattern. 62 positions, all loaded, means every circuit on the BOM line has a pin; no empty positions to track.
Right-Angle Mounting and Board Layout
The contact length on the mating side is 0.230-inch (5.84 mm), the post length below the board is 0.095-inch (2.41 mm). This puts the mating interface at the board edge — useful for mezzanine stacking or a daughtercard that plugs in parallel to the main board.
Plating and Contact Duty
The phosphor bronze base spring holds normal force over temperature swings. For a header that gets unmated for board swap or field repair, this plating grade is the difference between a reliable fifth remate and a corroded interface.
