The 68464-472HLF: The board footprint is a 2×36 grid of 0.100"-spaced through-holes — the PCB layout engineer needs to allocate roughly 3.6" of board edge for the length, plus keep-out for the unshrouded pins. At 3A per contact, the total current capacity across all 72 positions is 216A, but that assumes uniform load and adequate copper trace width on the board; in practice, the 3A rating is per pin at 25°C ambient, and derating applies above that.
Tin Plating, 100 µinch — Cost vs Cycle Life
The mating surface carries tin plating at 100 µinch (2.54µm) thickness — a heavy tin coat that provides good corrosion resistance for indoor, low-humidity environments. Tin-on-tin contacts are rated for roughly 50–100 mating cycles before the plating wears through and exposes the phosphor bronze base material.
This is a standard requirement for compliance with UL 60950 and IEC 62368 safety standards for ICT equipment.
