Board Fit and Pin Protection
The 68582-001LF: Full 4-wall shrouding surrounds the male pins. This protects the contacts during blind mating and prevents bent pins if the cable assembly is angled on insertion — a practical advantage over unshrouded headers in harness assembly or field service.
Mating surface is GXT gold, 30 µinch (0.76 µm) thick over phosphor bronze base metal. At this thickness the contact interface supports repeated mating cycles — for a connector cycled once a quarter, that is decades of service before the gold wears through to the nickel underplate.
Through-hole solder termination, vertical orientation. Mounting flanges on the header body provide additional mechanical retention to the board — useful when the mating cable assembly applies leverage during disconnect.
