It uses a standard 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch, through-hole solder termination, and male square pins. The unshrouded design gives a low profile — the insulation height is 0.100" (2.54mm) — and leaves the pins exposed for direct mating with a receptacle or for use as a programming/test header. Typical applications include internal board stacking, peripheral card connections, and low-cost signal distribution where the open pin field is acceptable.
The contact finish is 100.0µin (2.54µm) gold on the mating surface with tin on the post, which supports repeated mating cycles without fretting corrosion. UL94 V-0 rated housing means the header can be used inside equipment enclosures requiring flame retardance.
Within the BergStik II family, the 68657-404HLF is the 4-position variant.
