Contact Plating and Housing Material for Harsh Environments
The 68685-405LF: Both the mating and post contacts are finished with 100.0 µinch (2.54 µm) of tin over phosphor bronze. The 100 µinch thickness provides a robust corrosion barrier in humid or mildly corrosive atmospheres, though tin-on-tin interfaces are best suited for low mating-cycle applications — typically under 50 cycles — where fretting corrosion is not a concern. The black insulator and 0.276" (7.00 mm) insulation height provide adequate creepage distance for the 1000 V rating.
