Tin contacts at 100.0 µin (2.54 µm) thickness are fine for a few mating cycles in assembly and test, but if this connector sees repeated field service, the tin will fret and the contact resistance drifts — gold plating on the mating half helps but does not fix the tin-to-tin interface.
