Open-Top Profile — Why It Matters on the Board
The open-top design means the top of the shunt is exposed — no cover, no closed lid. That gives you probe access from above with a multimeter tip or a scope probe while the shunt is installed, which is handy during board bring-up or field troubleshooting. The trade-off is that the contacts are exposed to incidental debris; in a clean, enclosed assembly this is rarely an issue. Mated stack height is 0.200" (5.08 mm) above the header base — a low profile that keeps the jumper clear of adjacent components in a dense layout.
