This keeps the profile low (insulation height 0.100" / 2.54mm) and allows direct access for probing, but requires careful alignment during mating to avoid bent pins. The board footprint is a single row of 7 through-hole solder pads on 0.100" centers. No board locks — the header is held in place by the solder joints alone, so the mating cable assembly should be strain-relieved off-board.
