Board-to-Board Header, 8 Positions, 0.100" Pitch
The FCI 78511-408HLF is an 8-position, single-row, unshrouded BergStik® II header designed for board-to-board interconnect. It uses a 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch, a standard footprint that matches legacy and current PCB layouts. The male pin contacts are square phosphor bronze with a 100.0 µ" (2.54 µm) tin finish on the mating surface and tin on the solder tails.
The 5 A per-contact rating is typical for this pitch and plating class — the tin finish on both mating and post surfaces keeps contact resistance stable for moderate mating cycles, but the 100.0 µ" thickness gives a durable layer for repeated insertions in test or programming jigs. The 0.100" pitch gives enough room for two traces between pads on a standard 1 oz copper board, which matters when routing dense signal lines. The UL94 V-0 housing means the header can go into equipment that requires a flame-rated enclosure.
This unshrouded header mates with any standard 0.100" pitch female socket housing — BergStik® II receptacles or generic IDC sockets with the same pitch and 8-position count. The 0.318" (8.08mm) mating length gives good contact wipe. The through-hole solder tails are 0.120" (3.05mm) long, suitable for standard 0.062" PCBs.
