What This Connector Is
The Amphenol FCI 79425-470HLF is a 70-position, 2-row unshrouded male pin header from the BERGSTIK® II series. It uses the standard 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch on both rows and between rows, making it a drop-in fit for legacy 0.100" grid layouts. The through-hole solder termination and tin-plated phosphor bronze contacts are rated for 5A per circuit at 110V.
Board Fit and Routing
With 70 positions in two rows, this header occupies a 35-position-per-row footprint. The 0.100" pitch gives enough room for two traces between pads on a standard 0.062" board, keeping routing density manageable. The unshrouded design means there is no plastic wall around the pins, so the mating receptacle needs its own polarization or keying to prevent misalignment.
Ratings and What They Mean
The 5A per circuit rating is typical for a tin-plated contact at this pitch. Tin is the workhorse finish for moderate-cycle applications — it handles a few dozen mating cycles without issue, but if your design calls for frequent reconnection or a corrosive environment, a gold-plated variant from the same BERGSTIK II family would be the better call. The 110V voltage rating matches low-voltage DC rails and signal-level AC. The UL94 V-0 housing means it is accepted inside equipment enclosures that require a flame rating.
