UHF Plug for RG-58 and LMR-195 — 300 MHz Ceiling
The Amphenol RF 83-58FCP-RFX is a UHF-series plug, male pin, designed for free-hanging in-line use on RG-58, 58A, 58B, 58C, 141, 303, LMR-195, Belden B7806A, and 9907 cables. The 300 MHz frequency ceiling and 500 V rating place it firmly in the classic UHF territory — think two-way radio base stations, antenna feeds, and low-VHF broadcast links where the signal path doesn't push into the VHF/UHF data band. The threaded coupling nut gives a positive mechanical lock; hand-tight should seal it for most indoor or sheltered outdoor runs.
What Comes in the Kit and How to Terminate
The package includes three pieces: the connector body, a coupling nut, and a ferrule — no need to order those as separate line items. Termination is crimp or solder, so you can crimp the center contact for production speed or solder it in a field repair. The shield termination is push-on, which mates the braid to the connector body without a separate clamp ring.
Cable Fit and Signal Path
The cable group covers the common RG-58 variants plus LMR-195, which is a low-loss drop-in for RG-58 in longer runs. The impedance is non-constant — this is a UHF connector, not a 50 Ohm precision interface — so it's suited for applications where a few ohms of mismatch at the connector interface won't degrade the system. The dielectric is phenol formaldehyde (phenolic), a legacy material that handles the 500 V rating and 300 MHz ceiling without issue. Single-port design, one male pin.
