BERGSTIK II Header, 12 Positions, 0.100" Pitch
The Amphenol FCI 86832-112HLF is a 12-position dual-row unshrouded header from the BERGSTIK® II series, on the standard 0.100" (2.54 mm) pitch that matches breadboard and legacy through-hole layouts. The square male pins are phosphor bronze with 30.0 µ" (0.76 µm) gold or GXT™ plating on the mating surface, rated for 5 A per circuit at 110 V. The push-pull unshrouded design means the header sits exposed on the board — it mates with standard 0.100" pitch IDC sockets or crimp receptacles that have a matching shroud. The black UL94 V-0 housing is through-hole soldered, with all 12 positions loaded.
What the Ratings Mean for the Fit
The 0.100" (2.54 mm) pitch is the de facto standard for prototyping and general-purpose signal interconnects — it gives enough room to route one trace between pads on a standard 0.062" PCB without micro-vias. The 5 A per circuit rating is comfortable for signal lines, low-power sensor feeds, or control logic; derate above room temperature per the standard curve. The 30.0 µ" gold plating is the real story here — that thickness supports hundreds of mating cycles without exposing the base phosphor bronze, so this header is a good fit for test points, programming headers, or any application where the connector sees repeated connects and disconnects in the field.
Mating and Termination
This is an unshrouded header, so it mates with any standard 0.100" pitch female socket that has a shroud or open-frame design — common mates include the Amphenol FCI DUBOX or BergStik receptacle housings, as well as industry-standard IDC sockets. The through-hole solder termination is straightforward for wave solder or hand-soldering; the 0.100" (2.54 mm) post length gives enough protrusion for a clean solder fillet on a standard 0.062" board.
