Design Engineering Note
The FCI 86837-144HLF is a 44-position, dual-row unshrouded header from the BERGSTIK® II series, on the standard 0.100" (2.54 mm) pitch. It is a through-hole, solder-terminated board-to-board interconnect with male square pins. The 30.0 µin (0.76 µm) gold plating on the mating surface gives it a solid mating-cycle life for repeated board stacking or cable-to-board connections, while the UL94 V-0 rated black thermoplastic housing suits enclosed equipment. Rated 5 A per contact at 110 V, it handles typical signal and low-power distribution duties on a PCB.
What the Ratings Mean for the Fit
The 0.100" pitch and 0.100" row spacing set the board footprint — a standard grid that matches the vast majority of BergStik-compatible receptacles and IDC connectors. The unshrouded push-pull fastening means no keying or polarization: the header relies on the mating connector's own retention. The 5 A per-contact rating is typical for this pin density and plating grade; the limiting factor in practice is the temperature rise through the full 44-circuit load, so derate if all positions carry current near the limit. The 30 µin gold on the mating side, not the solder tail, is what governs contact resistance over repeated mate-unmate cycles.
