The Amphenol 86840-106HLF is a 6-position, 2-row unshrouded header from the BERGSTIK® II series. It uses a 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch on both the pin-to-pin and row spacing, making it a standard-density board-to-board interconnect.
The mating surface carries 30.0 µ" (0.76 µm) of gold or GXT™ — a plating thickness that supports repeated mating cycles without exposing the phosphor bronze base metal. This is the spec that separates a signal-grade header from a one-time-build option: at this gold thickness, the connector can tolerate field-service reconnections and test-point cycling without contact fretting. Tin-plated siblings in the same BERGSTIK II family save cost but cap out at a few dozen cycles.
The through-hole termination with a 0.230" (5.84mm) post length suits standard PCB thicknesses. The unshrouded design means the 0.318" (8.08mm) mating pin length is fully exposed — the mating receptacle or female header must provide the shroud and polarization. The push-pull fastening type is typical for BERGSTIK headers; no locking latch, so vibration resistance depends on the mating half's retention features.
