The unshrouded design gives direct access to the square pins for probing or wire wrapping, but leaves the contacts exposed — plan for the mating half to provide any needed polarization or strain relief. The 30.0 µ" (0.76 µm) gold plating on the mating surface provides the cycle life and corrosion margin needed for repeated matings in field-service or test-fixture environments — a step above the 15 µ" entry-level gold that would fret under regular reconnection.
Compliance and Physical Construction
The through-hole solder termination uses a 0.120" (3.05 mm) post length, and the overall contact length of 0.990" (25.15 mm) gives a 0.770" (19.56 mm) mating interface — enough to reach deep into a standard box header or IDC receptacle.
