It sits in the standard 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch family that has been a workhorse for parallel PCB stacking and wire-to-board transition through a mating receptacle. The 62 circuits are fully loaded across two rows, with a row spacing of 0.100" (2.54mm) as well, giving a dense but routable grid for signal-level connections.
The tin-on-tin contact finish (100.0µin / 2.54µm on the mating side, tin on the post) keeps cost down for applications where the connector is mated infrequently — think internal board stacks or semi-permanent harness connections that don't see repeated field service. The through-hole solder termination gives a reliable mechanical anchor for the 62 pins, and the UL94 V-0 black insulation handles the flammability requirements for equipment inside an enclosure.
