BergStik II 2-Position Unshrouded Header
The single-row layout with all positions loaded gives a compact 2-pin footprint. Rated at 5A per contact and 110V, this header suits low-power signal or control circuits where the board-to-board distance is set by the 1.043" (26.49mm) mating contact length.
The 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch is the key footprint parameter — it matches standard 0.1-inch grid protoboards and many legacy PCB layouts. The actual current limit in a real assembly depends on the number of adjacent pins carrying current simultaneously and the ambient temperature — derate per the manufacturer's curve if running all pins at 5A in a warm enclosure. Tin-on-tin contact interface means this header is best for one-time or occasional disconnect duty. For applications requiring frequent mating cycles or operation in corrosive environments, a gold-plated BergStik variant would be the correct choice.
As an unshrouded header, the 87185-402HLF mates with standard 0.100" pitch female socket housings or IDC receptacles that accept the 0.025" square pin. The push-pull retention relies entirely on the contact friction of the mating half — no latch or locking ramp is present on the header itself. Termination is through-hole solder. The 0.095" (2.41mm) post length is suited for standard 0.062" (1.6mm) PCBs with through-hole plating. The overall contact length of 1.238" (31.45mm) includes the 1.043" (26.49mm) mating section and the solder tail.
